2018 Blankiet Estate Rive Droite, Paradise Hills Vineyard

Rive Droite

Our true Bordeaux Right Bank wine. Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc. This wine is gorgeously fruit forward with a core of minerality.

The 2018 Rive Droite Paradise Hills Vineyard is a wine of pure and total sensuality. Blood orange, raspberry jam, mint, white pepper, and cinnamon are some of the many notes that lift from the glass. It is another wine in this range marked by bright acids and veins of salinity that confer energy. The Merlot emerges from mostly from parcels close to the entrance of the estate that are shaded and relatively cool. It is the most reserved of the three flagship wines. Dark red plum, blood orange, mint and sweet spice leave behind the closing shades of nuance.

The 2018 Rive Droite is a spectacular wine from Blankiet Estate that displays a stunning combination of power and refinement. This Right Bank inspired blend slowly unwinds in the glass, releasing wonderful aromatics of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and hints of blueberries, which are accented by crushed florals, tobacco, and wet gravel. This possesses a gorgeous full body that is beautifully structured with polished tannins that provide excellent support. This displays remarkable definition and poise ending with an incredible long finish. While this is already gorgeous in its youth, it should ultimately become even more compelling after a few more years of bottle age.

The 2018 Merlot Rive Droite is another powerhouse in the lineup that has both richness and elegance in spades. Gorgeous black cherries, currants, tobacco leaves, chocolate, chalky minerality, and cedar pencil notes give way to a full-bodied, seamless red with polished tannins, remarkable purity, and a great, great finish. A killer Merlot-dominated blend that flirts with perfection, enjoy bottles any time over the coming 15 – 20 years. The blend is 96.1% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. Hello, Gorgeous!
