“The 2023 Proprietary Red, Paradise Hills Vineyard, is one of the most elegant wines of the year. Strong, savory Cabernet Sauvignon inflections and brisk acids announce an important wine, a wine built for the cellar. The purity of the flavors is just mind-blowing. Lavender, menthol, licorice, dried herbs, and cool, blue-toned fruit are all beautifully sculptured. The 2023 is so vivid. What a wine!”

“Based on 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in 80% new French oak, the 2023 Proprietary Red represents the 25th harvest at Blankiet Estate from their Paradise Hills Vineyard on the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains above Yountville. Deep purple-hued, it offers an absolutely stunning perfume of darker currants, subtle cassis, sweet tobacco, and damp earth. It is medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, finely polished yet building tannins, and a great finish. It has a Bordeaux-like style in its structure and acid profile and is going to benefit from a solid 3-5 years of bottle age”.

The 2023 Paradise Hills Proprietary Red is a masterfully crafted wine from Blankiet Estate, exemplifying the elegance and power of this exceptional site. It opens up beautifully to reveal a layered bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, laced with nuances of violets, crushed stones, graphite, and a touch of exotic spices. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, offering superb clarity and precision, with polished tannins that frame the dark fruit core beautifully. There’s a striking harmony between richness and restraint, with a silky mouthfeel that builds in complexity before leading to a tightly knit, mineral-driven finish. Poised and deeply expressive, this wine is built for the cellar, with the structure and depth to evolve gracefully over the next two decades. Patience will be well rewarded.
