The 2021 Rive Droite, 95.6% Merlot and 4.4% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It pops from the glass with vivacious notes of black cherries, mulberries, and fresh plums plus nuances of candied violets, cardamom, pencil shavings, and aniseed with a hint of Sichuan pepper. The full-bodied palate is so, so satiny, with a refreshing backbone and bright, shiny black fruit layers, finishing on a lingering spicy note.
