The 2019 Prince of Hearts Red is composed primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine instantly impresses as it releases its inviting aromas of blueberries and plums, which come together with Sumatran coffee, sweet spices, tobacco, herbs and loamy notes that all explode from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully polished, with a plush texture that gives way to delicious flavors of ripe dark/red fruits, spices and roasted coffee that expand through the supple finish. The Prince of Hearts is already showing incredibly well upon release, however it should become even more compelling over the course of the next decade.
